Evangelism

Evangelism in the early church is what I would consider the “foundation” of what evangelism should be today. It was laying rubber to the road and talking about Jesus, sharing the good news of eternal salvation through Jesus. Christianity was put in a cloth bag and was busting at the seams to get out. There was enthusiasm, devotion, and an eagerness to lead others to Christ. This is much the opposite of what we see today. What we tend to see is soft footed, beat around the bush, toe tipping Christians that has the attitude, it is someone else’s job. We must go back to the foundation and implement the “back to basics” attitude and absorb how it was done by Jesus and the disciples.

Jesus and the disciples approached evangelism the way we all should. They approached evangelism with motivation, impartiality, hunger, and most important “love”. They were motivated to share the Gospel because of the love they had for their fellow man. They wanted all to know that no matter how bad they were, what they did, or who they were, that just like them we all are sinners and deserve death into the outer darkness of hell. They shared the good news that God loves us so much that he gave His only Son to die for us to atone for our sins, if we accept Him as our Savior. They did these things and died for Jesus because of love, and if we say we love one another, we should be going out into the world sharing the Gospel with the same motivation, impartiality, and hunger to lead others to Christ.  1 Corinthians 13:13 “And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.”
